All Eyes On Superman
Superhero fatigue is real, so the pressure is on the man of steel.

Welcome to MovieNewsPro for Tuesday, July 8th. Here's what you need to know.
🎬 Today's Take
All eyes are on director James Gunn's Superman, set for release this Friday. The Warner Bros. action packed superhero reboot has plenty of worldwide appeal, and the opening is tracking at between $100 million and $130 million (depending on which service you believe).
Superhero fatigue is real however, (even if it hasn't slowed down the studios), and this top shelf title will be an interesting test of where we are at in the cycle. If you would have asked for my take this Spring, I would have predicted a huge disappointment for the Man of Steel. However, the solid number from F1 and Jurassic World Rebirth have proved to me that Summer audiences are still searching for the action packed, popcorn movie style escapism that is best served on screen.

Excellent day for the index. Theater chains rebounded today (AMC, Cinemark, Imax and Marcus were all up) and Warner Bros. shot up as well on good numbers from F1 (they partnered with Apple on that) and good early buzz on Superman.
