It's Friday, June 6th. Here's what's happening.

๐Ÿฟ The Big Picture

Lionsgate is shaping up to be one of the most compelling players in Hollywood today. With their stock down 10% over the last five days, the mighty studio may appear to be at a crossroads. The review embargo for Ballerina certainly caused some bad vibes, and speaking of controversy, the upcoming Michael Jackson biopic has been delayed, and they are now shooting additional footage. However, with strong IP in their pockets (John WickThe Hunger GamesYellowjackets, and The Twilight Saga), this is a studio with powerful tools to work with. Plus, if any director can salvage the Michael film, itโ€™s Antoine Fuqua. The spinoff of Starz was a wise move, and there's word on the street they are interested in all things AI. Again, things could get interesting for Lionsgate in the next few months.

๐ŸŽฅ Extra Coverage

Mubi confirmed it co-produced Jim Jarmuschโ€™s star-studded Father Mother Sister Brother, which is officially heading to Venice with Cate Blanchett, Tom Waits, and Adam Driver in tow. (Deadline)

Mia Goth is teaming up with Ryan Gosling in the upcoming Star Wars: Starfighter, directed by Shawn Levy, set to start filming this fall for a 2027 release. The story takes place five years after The Rise of Skywalker and promises a fresh adventure with new characters, though Gothโ€™s role remains a mystery. (TheWrap)

Hustle & Flow director Craig Brewer has been tapped to helm Universal's upcoming Snoop Dogg biopic. (Hollywood Reporter)

Can this get any weirder? If the $8 billion Skydance merger falls through, Paramount could rapidly lose value, warned former FCC commissioner Rob McDowell, calling it a "melting ice cube." Despite the FCC shrinking to just two members after a recent resignation, McDowell believes the deal could still be approved through internal bureau action rather than a full commission vote. (Deadline)
