A double feature of F1 and Jurassic World Rebirth sounds like an awesome "forget the world and just have fun" double feature.

Welcome to MovieNewsPro for Wednesday, July 2nd. Here's what you need to know.

🎬 Today's Take

When we think of the Fourth of July weekend, we think of big, splashy popcorn movies—and apparently, the world agrees. Jurassic World Rebirth is projected to hit $250 million globally over the extended holiday weekend.

While it may be too early to declare the seventh dino installment a bona fide hit, all signs point to a strong opening. Reviews will be key, and so far, they appear to be mixed (currently 54% on Rotten Tomatoes). Then again, no one goes to see Jurassic World: Rebirth expecting a Best Screenplay contender.

Whether the film has legs remains to be seen, but if it continues to rack up numbers, it’ll be a welcome sight for Universal—a distributor that just stumbled with M3GAN 2.0. Personally, a double feature of F1 and Jurassic World: Rebirth sounds like an awesome "forget the world and just have fun" double feature - aka a popcorn movie.

Thank goodness for the free refills.
