HBO Max Tops Emmy Awards Nominations
Theater owners should take note of the ever-improving quality of television.

Welcome to MovieNewsPro for Tuesday, July 15th. Here's what you need to know.
🎬 Today's Take
Emmy Award nominations came out today, and once again, there was good news for Warner Bros. Streaming service HBO Max led all companies with 142 nominations across all categories. For a platform that has recently been going through an identity crisis, that's a strong showing.
This year's list is a nice mix of new and returning favorites. Apple's Severance leads the pack with 27 nominations, followed by The Penguin, White Lotus, The Last of Us, and Hacks. Audience faves The Studio, The Pitt and The Bear also performed well. There’s certainly an abundance of great new shows out there, with more streaming services popping up every day.
The point? With so many fantastic options for TV consumers, it’s getting harder to get audiences off the couch. Theater owners should take note of the ever-improving quality of television—and then ask whether movie studios are delivering the same.

Dr. Strangelove, Or: How I Learned To Stop Worrying And Love The Bomb (1964)

Yet another Kubrick classic, Strangelove is insanely funny, and yet oddly frightening.
