Hear The Roar: Dinosaurs & Race Cars Rule The Box Office
So of course, I saw Elio.

Welcome to MovieNewsPro for Monday, July 7th. Here's what you need to know.
🎬 Today's Take
With a $322 million global opening so far, it's safe to say that Jurassic World: Rebirth is a hit. As expected, the movie had the strongest "out of the gate" numbers of the season, and if it has legs, it has a decent shot at being the biggest movie of the year. We'll see.
Meanwhile, the adrenaline-fueled F1 is now officially Apple's biggest movie ever, with almost $294 million so far. The extra IMAX screens certainly helped, and the tech behemoth has done a great job marketing the movie.
With Fantastic Four and a new Superman movie waiting in the wings, it's clear that big-budget blockbuster entertainment still carries the summer. That's pretty much been the case ever since Jaws hit the screen 50 years ago.
So of course, I took my family to see Elio. Hey, it's what they chose, end the reviews have been solid, right? The film was good—not great—but it felt completely out of place in a multiplex dominated by dinosaurs, race cars, and death-defying stunts. We were the only ones in the theater, and the sound of dinosaur stomps from the movie next door echoed through the walls. It felt like a sign. Next summer, one of these types of films probably won’t make the cut.
