The Big Picture
American audiences flocked to movie theaters over the holiday weekend. Openings for Mission: Impossible - The Final Reckoning and Lilo and Stitch blew away all expectations. In response, movie theater stocks soared on Tuesday. The Cannes Film Festival wrapped up with Neon winning its 6th Palme d'Or in a row (for Iranian director Jafar Panahi's It Was Just An Accident). Joachim Trier's Sentimental Value won the Grand Prix.
