Oscar winning director Steven Soderbergh has lamented the slow box office for his latest film, Black Bag, Despite it Garnering Critical Acclaim. "If a mid-level budget, star-driven movie can’t seem to get people over the age of 25 years old to come out to theatres – if that’s truly a dead zone – then that’s not a good thing for movies" he told The Independent. Pure play streaming companies like Netflix and Roku are being perceived as being "safe" plays in a possible recessionary environment. Those two stocks were up on the day slightly, Netflix ending up 1.5% and Roku up 1.2%. All other streamers were down, with the Movie News Pro Streaming Index finishing down 1.19%.

The Movie News Pro Theater Index closed down 1.34% for the day, in sympathy with a broader market selloff. Cinemark was the sole gainer, barely ending in the positive, up .04%. Bad day for AMC, as the cinema chain ended down 3.24%.
