Superman To The Rescue
The movie studio that everyone — even us — loved to criticize is now consistently churning out hit films.

Welcome to MovieNewsPro for Monday, July 14th. Here's what you need to know.
🎬 Today's Take
With Superman officially a hit ($125 million domestically over the weekend), it's safe to say that Warner Bros. is on a roll. The movie studio that everyone — even us — loved to criticize is now consistently churning out hit films (Sinners, A Minecraft Movie, Final Destination: Bloodlines, Superman) and even racking up strong numbers as the distributor of Apple’s F1.
Is David Zaslav reawakening this former beast of the movie industry? Perhaps. Much will depend on what happens with the upcoming spinoff of the company’s cable television properties (CNN, TBS, TNT, etc.). The market seems to be betting the breakup will be a good thing — WBD stock is up 19% over the past month. The HBO Max rebranding debacle is now in the rearview mirror. Plus, splitting into two parts makes each unit more agile should any mergers or acquisitions become appealing.
Warner Bros. has certainly silenced its critics — for now. But with Warner Bros. now in the spotlight, it will be interesting to see if it can continue delivering hits.
