It's Tuesday, June 17th. Here's what's happening.

🍿 The Big Picture

According to a recent New York Times article, streaming has officially surpassed cable and broadcast television in terms of viewership. Of course, this has been rising for quite a long time, so the official numbers should surprise no one.

Older viewers have surprisingly taken to FAST channels such as Tubi, Roku and Pluto. Meanwhile, the younger generation is on YouTube, Disney Plus and Netflix. There is pretty much a FAST channel or streaming service for any taste out there, (Crunchyroll for anime and Shudder for horror are just a couple that come to mind), and at every price point.

So what's the main takeaway? There's no turning back. Warner Bros. Discovery and Comcast are wise to spin off these legacy businesses and focus on the future: streaming and theatrical. Blockbuster was slow to respond to Netflix, and remember how that turned out? Focusing on streaming is the key, and how they execute the pivot will be fun to watch.
